Ramside - PrinceBishop
Ramside Golf Club is an exceptional 36 hole facility with two championship standard courses, the Prince Bishop made in 1996 and the Cathedral Course which was opened in 2014. We were here to play the Prince Bishop.
Set in stunning, well kept grounds over a vast estate. The whole facility is very classy, the 4 star hotel / spa building is very impressive, they have treehouse rooms, restaurants and the large club house has a great bar and food offering too. There is a driving range, a well maintained chipping and putting green and friendly staff working throughout.
The Prince Bishop is a great track and a really fair test of golf, with a lot of risk reward holes, a course that will challenge golfers of all abilities. The layout is excellent, the generous fairways and greens are in great condition and all the holes offer a unique challenge, with some fun shots taking on water hazards, water is a feature on 10 of the holes.
The par 3, 3rd is a great looking hole. The relatively short par 4 6th is fun with your first real water hazard challenge, stay left on your approach here! The par 3 7th involves hitting over a large pond to a generous green, another fun shot to take. In fact we liked all of the par 3’s. A few of the holes are dog legs, one of our favourites is the risk/reward 8th, hitting long over the water to leave a nice chip uphill to the green.
To finish the round off the 18th is a very picturesque hole, with a large water hazard with a fountain sitting in front of the hotel. It’s a really nice way to finish your round.
We've heard that the other facilities at Ramside are exceptional, the hotel and spa looked superb.
We hope to return to Ramside soon to play the newer Catherdral course and to see how it has developed since we first played it not long after opening!
