Longhirst - Dawson
We had brilliant morning out on the Dawson Course today.
On arrival we were greeted by the fantastic Estelle, she was brilliant sorting out well needed coffees and bacon butties for our party.
We set off down the par 5 1st at 08.04, just as the sun was coming up.
The course was in great condition for the time of year, all greens were in play and the fairways were all well kept.
The Dawson course has some challenging but rewarding holes. Within our 4 ball we have a range of handicaps but our whole party enjoyed the challenge. The brisk winds made avoiding some of the well placed sand traps, water hazards and rough tricky, but great fun.
The stand out holes for me was the par 4 13th. A great risk/reward hole. Also, the approach onto the green of the par 4 5th requires great accuracy to avoid the water that protects the green.
We headed back to the club house after our round where again the staff were brilliant. All our food was well presented and really tasty.
I want to thank Graham Chambers, his whole team and the friendly members we spoke to for looking after us today. We can’t wait to come back and play the Lakes course.
You can see why Longhirst is in the top 100 must play UK venues.
